There is nothing like a good cleansing! How do you feel after you clean your house? Your car? Or even when you work in the yard and everything looks nice and fresh. I know it makes me happy! It gives me a sense of accomplishment. Success. Well....cleansing our body is even more important. At the beginning of the year, I started doing a Shred10. This is a 10 day jumpstart into a 4 month experience to launch you into life long health. For 10 days, I ate clean, gave up some bad habits - some of which I thought I would never ever give up, and found myself feeling so much better. Even after the 10 days were over, I continued. Of course I wasn't perfect but I recognized what I didn't need to do. It's kind of like my daily routine at home, knowing that if I put a dish in the sink without rinsing it, it's going to be even more difficult to wash. I started thinking that my health is like that. If I just leave it and do nothing about it, then it's going to be more difficult to get it back into a healthy me. Changing a bad habit for a good one can make life so much easier all the way around.
Years ago, I rented a house from this wonderful family. They told me that if I saw anything wrong, down to the smallest leak, to make sure that I told them. The gentleman explained that he had once let a leak go thinking it was nothing serious enough to deal with. He ended up having to do major renovations to the entire side of a kitchen wall. He was told that all could have been avoided (or prevented) had that small leak been repaired in the beginning. Shouldn't I do the same with my health? Shouldn't I just go ahead and get rid of those "bad habits" and replace them with "good habits" now? I keep hearing that prevention is a whole lot better than treatment, I'm beginning to believe it - in more ways than one. And, I'm positive it's a lot more expensive too.
So, now I'm getting ready to do my 4th Shred10. Seems to get easier each time, and I always look forward to it. Even though I try to make it a daily habit, it is difficult on some occasions. Let's say like my granddaughter's birthday, a weekend away with family, you know how it is. With that being said, why don't you join me in the next Shred10 starting April 3rd. You don't have to live close by, we'll stay in touch through Facebook. We will have our own support group with encouraging notes, recipes and so much more. And just think of how we will feel after just 10 days! One day at a time, one step at a time. We can do anything for 10 days! That's only one weekend! Are you in with me? Let me know if you want details.
Just a quick note to remember - "Food does things FOR you and medicine does things TO you".

There are some mornings that I just can’t seem to want to get out of bed because my mind just wanders as I’m trying to go to sleep. I’ve tried warm almond mild with Turmeric and the other “fixings”, melatonin, warm bath, reading, and whatever else others have suggested but nothing seems to work. Then I did a Shred10 – getting rid of bad habits in January. For 10 days I stuck to the plan which I ended up carrying on over to 18 to 20 days. That’s when I finally started getting some rest and sleeping better. I guess all those fruits, veggies and berries flooding my body with all of those phytonutrients were doing something to my system that actually worked. Then I went off but went right back on track for our February Shred10. Continued to do well with sleeping, felt great, had more energy and just had a better outlook on everything. Then on my 14th day, I went back to some old habits. Why is it that I do this? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still drinking my awesome shakes for breakfast. These are whole food based and packed with all of the good stuff. It’s a protein rich drink mix that provides balanced nutrition in each and every scoop! It provides the benefits of whole food nutrition through nutrient packed pumpkin and pomegranate powders, ancient grains and much more nutritious ingredients. My favorite is the Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie. I make it with the Vanilla Complete, spinach, almond milk, cocoa nibs and peppermint essential oil. YUMMO!!!!
Anyhow, now I’m feeling as though I’ve let myself get way off base because of some of those “bad habits”. It would be easy to put myself down and let satan get me in that spiral dark pit that he wants me in but it’s not going to work. Not today. I will succeed and stay on this. It’s good for me, for my health, for my family. And – I WANT to do it. I need my private Shred10 Facebook group to keep me accountable and help me stay focused. I can’t wait until March 6th to start the next Shred. It’s so nice to know that this is a lifetime change not just a d-i-e-t. I can’t do those. And, I can RESTART whenever I want - alone or with lots of others each month. I’m ready to take healthy back. Makes me feel energized just talking about it.
Of course though, life happens. Friends are coming over tonight for supper and my sweet husband wanted me to prepare the first meal that I cooked for him when we were dating. Simon and Garfunkel Chicken, twice baked potatoes and this awesome carrot casserole recipe that I have. Definitely not Shred approved, but so good. Hey, it does have parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme in it! Beside, this is when it’s nice to know that we can fill in the gap and get our nutrition of 30 fruits, veggies and berries from our JP capsules.
By the way, my husband, Scott, is my greatest support system. Here he is making a smoothie for his dessert! I love that man! That’s the great thing about the Complete Shake Mix, it tastes great anytime and no matter what you put in it, you’re still getting the nutrition you need from whole food! You just can’t beat that! I’m actually enjoying some chocolate bars that I made with the Chocolate Complete. It truly satisfies that sweet tooth of mine.
Ya’ll have a great day and healthy living to you.
