Our Tower Garden has been such a great source of our plant based diet. We’re not perfect by any means, but it’s nice to know that we have whole food right there at our finger tips. Lots of times, we just eat off the Tower and don’t bother with meat. Since I’ve been on this “Health” journey, it seems like I am eating less meat than ever before. (I do love that good roast beef sandwich once in a blue moon though!)
One of the many questions that comes up is where do we get our protein if we skip putting that piece of meat on our plates. A friend of mine recently posted some great facts and I wanted to bless you with these.
? Fact: All living things contain protein. Plants are just the leanest and cleanest sources.
? Fact: Protein deficiency in America is basically unheard of. A study done on people following plant based diets showed that on average, they get 70% more protein than what they actually need every day.
? Fact: When you buy plant protein, you get a "Buy one, get these free" special with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals ☺️
? Fact: When you buy animal protein, it comes with not so fancy "gifts with purchase" like saturated fat, cholesterol, added hormones, antibiotics, parasites and carcinogens which all feed disease ??
? Fact: We need to eat foods that supply us with the 9 essential amino acids that our bodies can’t make on their own. Some plant based foods have all of them (quinoa, buckwheat, soy, chia and hempseed) while others have a mix of some and not others. As long as foods like legumes, nuts, seeds, gluten free whole grains, fruits and vegetables are consumed daily, you’re getting everything you need and more.
The health benefits are so much better with whole food, plant based nutrition. With all being said, our Tower Garden has been a life saver. If it’s storming and need greens, we don’t have to get in the car and drive, and there are no worries about going out and harvesting like you would in a regular garden because we have an indoor garden as well as an outdoor. I love that the outdoor garden is right outside my back door. No walking in the mud, dealing with weeds and the normal issues of having a dirt garden.

I just had to post this sweet video. My husband is such a trooper. I guess I’ll have to video myself eventually but I love seeing him have fun as he continues on his health journey.
Ya’ll have a fantastic weekend, here’s to your health!
